Hi, I’m Tara and here’s a little bit about me and why I’m so passionate about empowering both parents and teens.
I’m proud to be part of Parent Connections where I bring over 25 years experience as an educator, teacher and facilitator. I’ve had the privilege of connecting with diverse audiences from all ages, stages and places.
I’m also a writer, and I’ve had the joy of bringing writing into my professional life where I’ve designed and delivered community education programs over the many years. I’ve enjoyed writing these programs in collaboration with state and local governments.
I particularly enjoy facilitating workshops with primary school children and high school youth, and I take great pride in having delivered education programs to well over 150 schools within Victoria-Australia, to thousands of children and teenagers (and parents!)
I’m a trained Tuning in to TeensTM facilitator with the skills to help parents better understand and connect with their teenagers. Plus I hold a Diploma of Education, a BA in Marketing, and I’m completing an Associate Degree in Professional Writing and Editing. All of these qualifications help me to approach the task of guiding you through our parenting strategies from various angles, combining education, communication, and creativity.
It’s been through my personal and professional experiences that my passion for honouring the ‘teen’s voice’ truly took shape. I firmly believe in standing up for teenagers and advocating for their opinions, understandings, and experiences. Their voices deserve to be heard, and I’m committed to ensuring they play an integral role in our work.
And lastly, if not most importantly, I’m also a mother of a teenage daughter. I understand the challenges and joys of raising a teenager in today’s world, and I’m able to bring a unique perspective and empathy to my role with Parent Connections.
In my spare time, when I’m not working and learning all things ‘teenager’, I love to read and I try my best not to say or do cringey things around my teen (especially when sharing TikToks).
